Agronomic performance and genetic divergence between genotypes of Manihot esculenta Anais da ABC (AABC)
GILES,JOÃO ANTONIO D.; OLIOSI,GLEISON; RODRIGUES,WEVERTON P.; BRAUN,HEDER; RIBEIRO-BARROS,ANA I.; PARTELLI,FÁBIO L..
Abstract The morphoagronomic characterization of 12 genotypes of M. esculenta was performed during the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 crop years. The 12 genotypes were planted in a randomized block design, with four replicates per genotype. Number of tuberous roots per plant, weight of tuberous roots, root yield, total plant weight, harvest index, plant height, height of first branch, number of shoots, stem diameter, number of buds, leaf dry weight and petiole length were evaluated. Genotypes “Camuquem” and “Goiás” were the most productive, and “Amarela” and “Gema de Ovo” were the most divergent. Seventy percent of genetic diversity was due to petiole length (22.86%), root yield (19.20%), weight of tuberous roots (14.89%) and number of buds (13.72%). Overall, the...

Characterization of pepper accessions using molecular markers linked to pungency and SSR Horticultura Brasileira
Jesus,Rafaela de; Santos,Gabriel do N; Piccin,Andressa S; Balsalobre,Thiago WA; Sala,Fernando C; Carneiro,Monalisa S.
ABSTRACT Peppers of the genus Capsicum are of great socioeconomic importance, being pungency trait their main attraction. Pungency characterization, genetic distance estimates and population structure analysis of the accessions belonging to germplasm banks are important for parent selection which allows to obtain superior progenies. Therefore, the aims of this study were: i) evaluate 81 accessions of the Capsicum spp. Germplasm Bank of Universidade Federal de São Carlos (BGC-UFSCar) with molecular markers linked to pungency; ii) estimate the genetic diversity among accessions of the BGC-UFSCar using microsatellite markers (SSR); and iii) evaluate the efficiency of these markers in the distinction among species of Capsicum spp. We noticed that pun11 and SNP...

Comparison of projection of distance techniques for genetic diversity studies Agronomy
Sant'Anna, Isabela de Castro; Silva, Gabi Nunes; Carneiro, Vinicius Quintão; Pontes, Daiana Salles; Nascimento, Moyses; Cruz, Cosme Damião.
The objective of this study was to compare different graphical dispersion analysis techniques in two- or three-dimensional planes. In this study, the data from different published works were used in order to determine the best methodology for analyzing the genetic diversity of different species. In this study, efficiency is measured by the amount of original distance absorbed by the projection of distances technique, which in the case of major components is equal to the amount of total variation originally available and retained by the principal components used for dispersion purposes. The projection of dissimilarity measurement technique, principal component analysis (PCA), and principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) were used. Considering the analysis by...

Fish beta diversity responses to environmental heterogeneity and flood pulses are different according to reproductive guild Neotropical Ichthyology
Gutiérrez C,Ángela; Ortega,Jean Carlo Gonçalves; Agostinho,Angelo Antonio.
ABSTRACT In floodplain communities, beta diversity is influenced by different factors; however, environmental heterogeneity and floods are believed to be particularly influential. The influence of environmental heterogeneity and floods on beta diversity may vary among guilds that present different ecological traits. This study evaluated the correlation between the environmental heterogeneity and flood periods and the beta diversity of trophic and reproductive guilds of fish assemblages. Sampling was conducted quarterly between 2000 and 2012 in the upper Paraná River floodplain. The environmental heterogeneity and period (i.e., dry or flood) were associated with the beta diversity of each guild based on the results of generalized least squares linear...

Genetic diversity of promising ‘conilon’ coffee clones based on morpho-agronomic variables Anais da ABC (AABC)
GILES,JOÃO ANTONIO D.; PARTELLI,FÁBIO L.; FERREIRA,ADÉSIO; RODRIGUES,JOICE P.; OLIOSI,GLEISON; SILVA,FERNANDO H. LIMA E.
Abstract Knowledge of the genetic variability of a population is essential to guide its preservation and maintenance in addition to increasing the efficiency of genetic breeding programs. On this basis, this study was conducted to evaluate the genetic diversity of Coffea canephora genotypes using multivariate statistical procedures applied to a set of morpho-agronomic variables. The materials employed in this study constitute a crop located in Vila Valério - ES, Brazil, where the genotypes are arranged in a randomized-blocks experimental design with four replicates. Significant differences were detected by the F test at the 1% or 5% probability levels among the genotypes for all evaluated traits, demonstrating heterogeneity of genetic constitution in the...

Relationship between heterosis and genetic divergence for phosphorus use efficiency and its components in tropical maize Ciência Rural
Caixeta,Débora Santos; Fritsche-Neto,Roberto; Batista,Lorena Guimarães; Carvalho,Humberto Fanelli; DoVale,Júlio César; Lanes,Éder Cristian Malta de; Miranda,Glauco Vieira.
The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between heterosis and genetic divergence for phosphorus use efficiency (PUE) in tropical maize. It was used two groups of genitors, each consisting of seven lines, contrasting with each other in the nitrogen and phosphorus use efficiency. It was obtained 41 hybrid combinations between these groups, which were evaluated in low phosphorus. Randomized complete block design with two replications was used. For obtaining the components of variance and the breeding values were used REML/BLUP method. In the genotyping of the parental lines were used 80 microsatellite markers. Through the correlation between genetic distance obtained by the markers and specific combining ability it was not possible to...

Seasonal and interpopulational morphometry variation of Platyscytus decempunctatus (Carvalho 1945) (Heteroptera: Miridae) Biota Neotropica
Pires,Evaldo Martins; Guedes,Raul Narciso Carvalho; Serrão,José Eduardo; Ferreira,Paulo Sérgio Fiuza.
A morphometry study was carried out with Platyscytus decempunctatus (Carvalho 1945) collected during the dry and wet seasons in Viçosa county, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil and in other 23 counties from the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. A total of 30 males and 30 females were collected in Viçosa at each season and additional insects (20 males and 20 females) were collected at each county surveyed. The analysis with 27 morphological traits was carried out to verify the seasonal influence, differences between sexes and among populations in specimens from Viçosa. The females of P. decempunctatus collected in Viçosa were larger than the males in most of the traits evaluated in both seasons (dry and wet). The males showed only two body...
